Dedicated to the upliftment of rural children through health and education. An ambition to bring learning, care and opportunity closer to children and the families who support them.
Explore our approach ↓CHILDREN AT THE CENTRE
Upanayan is AMNAYA’s social service programme for rural children. Its purpose brings two priorities together: access to health support and inclusive education, with particular attention to the early years and children who need additional learning support.
The programme builds on an earlier Upanayan concept focused on young children, mothers and families in underserved communities. Its rural direction carries forward that same belief: a child’s learning and wellbeing should be considered together, with families as active participants.
OUR PROGRAMME PRIORITIES
Support school readiness, foundational learning and engaging, age-appropriate education. The programme seeks to involve trained educators and make space for different learning needs.
Build pathways to child-health awareness and appropriate professional guidance. Health activities would be designed with qualified practitioners and clear referral arrangements.
Engage parents and caregivers, recognise barriers to participation and seek suitable support for children with disabilities or additional educational needs.
THE ECKII FOUNDATION
The original Upanayan concept sets out an ECKII framework. These principles inform the programme’s development.
FROM PURPOSE TO PRACTICE
Identify local needs with families, schools and community representatives.
Define the location, qualified delivery team, child-safeguarding arrangements, resources and activities.
Use appropriate indicators for participation, learning support and access to care; review findings before expansion.
Programme activities, locations, delivery partners and results will be shared as they are confirmed. The approach above describes programme intent; it does not represent a claim of completed delivery or an existing collaboration.
HELP SHAPE THE PROGRAMME
We welcome conversations with educators, child-health professionals, community organisations and potential programme supporters.
